Free Group Ride
Snoqualmie Valley Rural Ramble with Gravel
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Please note: During COVID-19 Phases 1.5 and 2, all Free Group Rides are limited to six total participants: the Ride Leader and five others. Registration for the ride (using the red “Register Now” button above) is REQUIRED to participate. If you decide not to ride, please unregister for this ride so that an additional spot will be made available to another.
Face coverings (for mouth and nose) are required when the group makes extended stops. Face coverings are recommended for the duration of the ride. Please bring personal hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and tissues for use at rest stops.
Join us for a scenic social ride from Depot Park in Duvall on a 35.5-mile route at a steady pace (12-14 MPH on flats with no wind)! On the gravel portions of the route, the pace will be about 1 or 2 MPH slower, while maintaining a steady-pace effort.
Enjoy the rural sights of the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley while traveling back roads and trails. The first 15 miles of the route takes us south on the fairly smooth, fine-gravel surface of the Snoqualmie Valley Trail (SVT), to Fall City. Then we take paved country roads to work our way back north. We will take a break at the Carnation Farms Farmstand for refreshments, at mile 28. The last few miles of the ride are back on the SVT.
For the most part, the gravel on the trail is firmly packed into dirt, and easy to ride. (It is a smoother ride than many city streets.) If you are new to gravel riding or curious to try it, this is an excellent place to start.
Let's meet at the Depot Park parking lot, near the restrooms, at 9:45 a.m. for our pre-ride safety briefing, with a departure at 10 a.m.
Hills are minimal, and we can climb and descend them at our own pace. Our goal will be to regroup frequently.
Restrooms and water are available at the start. Restrooms--but no water--are also available at miles 8 and 15. The Farmstand at mile 28 also has a restroom.
What to bring: A road bike with tires 28 mm or wider will work for the gravel we will encounter. Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Carry enough water and snacks to sustain you till our break at Carnation Farms. If you would like a cue sheet, you may print one from the route file below.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
