"Want to spend International Women’s Day with a group of bikeminded ladies? Come ride with us!" --Trek
Join us on a ride celebrating International Women's Day to get some miles in and celebrate the strong, inspiring womxn in your life and yourselves! This ride intends to create a safe space for all WTF (women, trans, femme) riders to get together in a fun and welcoming environment and celebrate the joy of bicycling. Trek Bicycle will be sponsoring this event!
We’ll meet at Trek Bicycle Redmond and ride 14 flat miles on the Sammamish River Trail at a no-drop pace. We encourage new riders to come out, enjoy this social ride, and connect with others. After the ride, we’ll meet back at the shop for treats, beverages and socializing with new friends! We will have little give-aways for all riders.
RSVP & ARRIVAL TIME: Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page to save time at the ride start. Also, please register on the Trek Bicycle Redmond FB page so we can plan for treats! https://www.facebook.com/events/173409980624261/
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the ride start to prepare yourself and your bike, sign the waiver, and be ready for the safety briefing.
PACE/ELEVATION: The listed pace is based on the flats, with no headwind/tailwind, and at your own pace up hills. We will wait at the top of climbs to give all riders a chance to catch a breath before continuing as a group. We are a group who encourages and empowers one another to achieve our personal goals. When using designated bicycle trails we will observe the posted speed limit.
PARKING/RESTROOMS: There is plenty of free on-street weekend parking located near the start. Additional free weekend parking is available at Redmond Central Connector Parking at the corner of Bear Creek Parkway and Leary Way NE. Please avoid the customer parking spaces at the store's back door as we'll keep that available for store customers. A bottle filling station and restroom are available inside Trek.
PLANNED STOPS: There are no planned stops, however there is a restroom at mile 7, and if needed, we will stop. Please bring ample hydration and additional nutrition with you, as necessary.
MECHANICALS: Group will stop for flats. Bring tools to repair flats, and a plan (ie: Orca card or a friend/Uber to call) if you have a more serious mechanical failure or choose to not repair your flat roadside.
RECOMMENDED/REQUIRED: Helmets are required. Head and tail lights recommended for safety. Mirrors are highly recommended by the ride leader to keep yourself and your riding buddies safe and seen. For the safety and comfort of yourself and your fellow riders, fenders with long buddy flaps are appreciated if roads are damp or rain is in the forecast. If you are spraying other riders you will be asked to ride in the back of the group.
RIDE CANCELLATION: In the event of a weather cancellation, notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride start and the ride leader will not be at the start location.
