Free Group Ride
WRUMPS: Kenmore-Edmonds
Event has already happened.
We'll ride out of Bothell Ski & Bike in Kenmore through Lynnwood to Edmonds where we'll have lunch at the Red Twig Cafe, keeping it to <30 minutes.
This is a hilly ride! Please review the Ride With GPS elevation profile. The ride to Edmonds has a good share of moderate hills sprinkled along the route. Returning from Edmonds we'll warm up climbing out of the Edmonds Bowl via Woodway and then climb Innis Arden. While Woodway is about one mile and fairly moderate, Innis Arden has significant grades at times and is also about a mile in length. It is not an easy climb! We'll have a reprieve on the Interurban Trail before we climb up through Mountlake Terrace and enjoy a fun downhill back into Kenmore.
Pace: We'll maintain a moderate pace (14-16 mph) on the flats w/o the benefit or hindrance of wind, climbing/descending at rider's comfort, regrouping as necessary at the top and bottom of hills. Riders off the front or significantly off the group pace, should be prepared to finish the ride solo. For the well-being of the group, regroups will be no longer than 3 minutes.
Riders should bring tools & knowledge to repair flats/minor mechanicals (e.g., patch kit, spare tube, pump, multi-tool). Please have a backup plan should your bike become unrideable (someone to call for a rescue or an ORCA card). It happens!
Fenders: For the comfort & safety of your fellow riders as well as yourself, full fenders with long buddy flaps are greatly appreciated if it is wet or there is a chance of rain. No fenders means you are happy to ride in the back. Weather can change quickly this time of year, please be prepared for all conditions by having proper gear and equipment.
Though a food stop is planned, it is recommended that riders carry ample hydration & snacks in case of delays.
Start: Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to prepare yourself and your bike prior to the safety briefing. Ride starts promptly at 10:00.
Restrooms & water are at the start.
Parking: Please park in the spaces on the west side of the lot so that we do not impede Bothell Bike's customers.
Registration: To save time at the start and so that the leader can properly prepare for the ride, please register for the ride by clicking on red Register Now button. There is no need to un-register should you find you are no longer able to ride.
Cancellation: Ride will be canceled for steady rain or other hazardous conditions. Should conditions call for a cancellation day of ride, a cancellation notice will be posted in the comment section below at least two hours prior and ride leader will not be at the start. If conditions are questionable please check the comments below before leaving for the start.
