Free Group Ride
CANCELED_Seven Hills of Kirkland - from Log Boom Park
Event has already happened.
DESCRIPTION: This is a variation of the classic Seven Hills of Kirkland, with a start in Log Boom Park instead of Kirkland. We will go up the seven hills, included: Norway, King's Gate, Winery, Rose, Market, Juanita, and finally Holmes Point. We will observe posted speed limits on any portion of the ride on the bike trail. If there is interest, this may be a weekly ride for the next month or two (this is ride #3). I expect to be a little slow on the hills, but riders are welcome to sprint ahead and wait at the top where it is safe. We will regroup at the top and, if necessary, at the bottom, of all hills; no one will be dropped.
Route and Cue sheet are available at the Ride with GPS link below
Location: Log Boom Park is located on the northern end of Lake Washington and easily found by your GPS. There are rest rooms at the start. If you need a cue sheet, please print one. Electric-assist bikes welcome. Please do NOT leave your car in the Log Boom Park lot--that's for the park users. Parking is available on 175th Street east of Log Boom.
Start Time: Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the published start time to find parking outside the Log Boom lot, ready your bike, check in and participate in the safety and ride briefing. We will go over hand signals and what we say during the ride to keep ourselves safe.
As is customary for all Cascade rides, you must wear a helmet, and should have necessary gear and knowledge to fix any flats you might get along the way. So bring ID; spare tube, tools, pump, patch kit, and skills to fix flats; and a phone and a plan for rescue if your bike fails.
If roads are wet, rooster tails from bare tires are a safety issue for other riders. Fenders with long mudflaps show that you care and indicate that you want to ride within the group as opposed to being off the back.
REGISTRATION: Please click on the bright red “Register Now” button above to sign up for the ride - it saves time at the start and makes sure I can read your emergency number, just in case. You have to create an account, but you don't have to become a member or pay.
Food: This week I have made the Starbucks at mile 23 the official stop. We will also stop at mile 17 (the 132nd Street park) for bathrooms if requested (no water there last week, so be sure to carry enough water for 25 miles).
After the ride, I will be going to the Hodgepodge Cafe, https://www.thehodgepodgecafe.com, just up the street from Log Boom Park at 6016 NE Bothell Way, Suite J, Kenmore, WA 98028-9403. All riders are welcome to join me.
Cancelation: Steady rain cancels the ride. If that happens, it will be announced in the comments section below at least two hours before start time and the Ride Leader will not be at the start.
