Free Group Ride
FRIDAY RIDERS: **EARLY START**Juanita Beach Park - I90 Bridge - 520 Bridge
Event has already happened.
**NOTE EARLY START AT 9 AM**
Join me on a fun ride with constantly changing landscapes across two Lake Washington bridges. We start on the Eastside at Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland on the shores of Lake Washington. Get ready to cycle south along Lake Washington Blvd through Bellevue to the I90 Bridge. Cross the bridge to Mercer Island where we cycle up several short and fun hills then it’s back to the I90 Bridge and across to the Seattle side. We will take a ½ hour mid-ride break at the Leschi Starbucks where you can sit outside if it is still warm. After the break, continue north along Lake Washington Blvd cycling through the verdant green urban jungle called the ‘Arboretum.’ Then we will wind our way on Seattle roads to the start of the SR520 bridge and cross it to the Eastside. There will be time for a group photo or two looking west across the 520 bridge we just cycled over. This is a great place to eat a snack and gain back some calories that were lost cycling up several hills. Next we continue east on the beautiful, new 520 bike trail and back to the Eastside. We cycle north on Kirkland's Lake Washington Blvd back to Juanita Beach Park.
What to bring? Water bottle, snacks, tire repair kit, inflation, sunglasses, sunscreen, helmet (required), money or credit card for food/drink. You will need some low gears on the bicycle to get up the hills without a major struggle.
Arrive at Juanita Beach Park at 8:40 am to find a parking slot, ready your bicycle, sign the waiver (you can save time by registering online), listen to a safety briefing, get updates on road conditions, and meet other cyclists. There is free parking, water and restrooms available at Juanita Beach Park.
In the case of inclement weather check the ‘comments’ section below the ride description for a cancellation notice. The ride may be cancelled 2 hours prior to the start time and the ride leader will not appear. Unhealthy smoke conditions or temperatures near 90° will cancel the ride.
Preregistration is available and advised. You will need a Cascade Bicycle Club account to register. Click on the red ‘register’ button below the ride title. This saves time at the ride start and provides legible emergency contact information for you.
See you there.
