Free Group Ride
Seattle Pacific University to Paine Field and Edmonds (for Gelato !)
Event has already happened.
Description: This ride starts at a small parking lot by Seattle Pacific University (Note there is construction in the parking lot but there should be lots of nearby street parking) and takes us over to the Burke Gilman Trail to warm up. We turn off the trail at Matthews Beach and head north towards Everett. We will ride around Paine Field in Everett and may even swing by the new airport there. Then we head down to Edmonds where we will have an extended rest stop in town for gelato before climbing up Richmond Beach Road toward Seattle. We will ride together and regroup at both the top and bottom of all hills.
This will be my first time leading at the brisk pace, so it will be at the lower end of brisk. Fast moderate riders are welcome to join us, you will not get dropped. Note that any time we are on multi-use trails, we will adhere to the trail speed limit.
If you need a cue sheet, please print one. Electric-assist bikes welcome.
Rest Stops: There is no water or bathrooms at the start. There are two planned rest stops: at mile 28 and mile 43 (where the gelato is !)
As is customary for all Cascade rides, you must wear a helmet, and should have necessary gear and knowledge to fix any flats you might get along the way. There will be a short rest stop along the route at mile 25 with a longer stop for gelato at mile 42, but come prepared with your own food and beverages.
Bring ID; spare tube, tools, pump, patch kit, and skills to fix flats; and a phone and a plan for rescue if your bike fails. If roads are wet, roostertails from bare tires are a safety issue for other riders. Fenders with long mudflaps show that you care and indicate that you want to ride within the group as opposed to being off the back.
