Arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to hear the route briefing, SMART talk, and sign the waiver form (or check off your name) for an on-time departure. Attendance during the safety briefing is mandatory to ride with the group.
Invitation: Ladies, make your day count - let's have a good workout, enjoy some coffee in Kenmore and be done with it all before lunch! The route is a mixture of rural and urban roads, no crazy hills, but good cardio! There is a rest room at the start and at mile 20 CBC office in Magnsun Park. Bring a friend or come solo and make new friends!
This is a Women's Ride. If you are looking for a welcoming group of women who are here to encourage each other while having fun and developing new friendships, then this is the group for you! We invites anyone who identifies themselves as a woman to experience the fun of getting out on your bike with other like-minded women, get in some exercise and good conversation, while enjoying the ride with other ladies who share the passion of cycling. This is a group ride for any woman who is looking for a positive, fun, and inspiring group. If it's your first group ride, we welcome you and would love to have your join us!
RSVP: Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page to save time at ride start. Please register at least 2 hours prior to the ride. You can always register at the ride start if you miss the cut-off. If you sign up using e-waiver but decide not to ride, no worries, and we'll see you next time. If you are not a member of Cascade, please sign up for a free account and register so that we can have adequate assistance for the group.Thank you!
PACE/ELEVATION: The listed pace is based on the flats, with no headwind, and at your own pace up hills. We will regroup at the top of hills. Ladies, you don't have to be a fast climber to join in this group, this is not a race! We are here to encourage and empower one another to get stronger. The amount of climbing is eased by being in the company of other women who are up for a challenge who energize each other. As long as you are capable with the posted pace on the flats, don't worry about the rest. We will wait at the top of climbs to give all riders a chance to catch a breath before continuing. When using designated bicycle trails we will observe the posted speed limit. If you have any personal concerns about the pace or climbing please email the ride leader at the email address listed.
START LOCATION & PARKING The Hanger at Kenmore Town Square - Parking is on the street or in the parking lot in back of the Hanger as we will stop on the way back for coffee and conversation. There is a rest room at the start.
ROUTE: This route will be around 35 miles, and 2,000 feet of climbing. The Moderate group will be taking the same route, with a few minor changes (less miles and less hills) if you want to try a faster pace with the security of a slower paced group behind if you need them, this is your chance. Today we will be doing a half lake loop around Lake Washington, heading south over Juanita Drive into Kirkland, west over the 520 Bridge where we will stop for a picture then north past the UW, around mile 20 we will stop at the CBC offices in Magnsun Park for water and restrooms before heading back to the Hanger for socializing and coffee or other options of your choosing.
See link below for a RideWithGPS downloadable route map with printable cue sheet. If you want a cue sheet, please print one using the route link as copies will not be available at the ride start.
MECHANICALS: The group will stop for flats. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan ie: Orca card, or a friend/Uber to call you have a serious mechanical failure or choose to not repair your flat roadside.
RECOMMENDED: Mirrors and lights are highly recommended by the ride leader to keep yourself and your riding buddies safe and seen. Fenders and buddy flaps are appreciated if rain is in the forecast.
RIDE CANCELLATION: In the event of a weather cancellation a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride start and ride leader will not be at the ride start location.
