A Hill, a Farm, a Marsh, and a Hill

Join us to stretch your legs on this route down from the Sammamish Plateau and up Ames Lake-Carnation Road.  We will have a coffee/snack and restroom break at Carnation Farm Stand.  After passing through Carnation, we will enjoy the flat terrain through quiet and scenic Carnation Marsh before climbing Duthie Hill back to Beaver Lake Park.

This will be a moderate paced ride (14-16 mph on the flats).  There are two significant climbs on this route, but we will climb at our own pace and regroup frequently.  Please review the route ahead of time and print your own cue-sheet as the ride leader will not have copies at the start.  Riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire.

If there is any potential for wet roads, come prepared with fenders with buddy flaps on your bike, long enough to keep the rider behind you dry. The ride will be canceled with steady rain, high winds, flooding, or other unsafe riding conditions.  Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section of this post at least two hours before the ride start.  If canceled, the ride leader will not be at the start.

We will start at Beaver Lake Park. Please note there are two parking lots, and we will meet at the lot off SE 24^th St by the Lodge at Beaver Lake.  (If you see baseball fields you are at the wrong lot).  There are restrooms and water at the start and at our rest stop at mile 11.

Please register for the ride by clicking on the “Register Now” button.  Arrive at least 20 minutes early so you can ready your bike, sign the waiver, and listen to the S.M.A.R.T. safety briefing. This allows us to have an on-time departure.
