Important note: One of the missions of Cascade Bicycle Club is to promote bicycle-friendly policies and investments to local infrastructure. By showing our presence and support at the Eastside Rail Corridor Progress Celebration, we are expressing our gratitude and support for the region's positive momentum in fulfillment of this mission. The entirety of this ride, including the social components, will take about five hours. If this doesn't work for your schedule, you are free to go off of the ride on your own at any time. Please, inform the Ride Leader of this intention before departing. In this event, please, ensure that you have the means to navigate safely back to your starting point.
RIDE: We will ride on the Burke-Gilman Trail and the Sammamish River Trail to the Redmond Central Connector Park at mile 17 for the Eastside Rail Corridor Progress Celebration. We then join the Policy Ride that is part of the celebration. That portion of the ride will take about 90 minutes. We will then reverse our route on the trails and return to Matthews Beach. Helmets and a functioning bicycle are required.
Route: Come, have fun, converse and enjoy this social bike ride along the trails of Seattle and King County. The majority of the terrain is flat.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided because this is a Stay Together ride.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or be the caboose.
Ride start: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the liability waiver and hear the safety briefing. Water and restrooms are available at the start. Be prepared to deal with a mechanical problem, such as a flat tire.
Register: Please, sign an e-waiver by clicking on the red “Register Now” button at the top of this page and enter your information. If you register, but choose not to do the ride, it is not a problem.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot.
Weather cancellation: - Steady showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride. Ride cancellation will be announced in the Comments section below at least two hours before start time and the ride leader(s) will not be at the start.
