Free Group Ride
Renton-Greenriver Gorge-Black Diamond Bakery
Event has already happened.
This is a very scenic 53-mile ride (with a gradual hill on the first half) from Renton to the Greenriver Gorge, with a coffee and pastry stop at the famous Black Diamond Bakery. It is free and open to everyone. The route consists of trails and bike-friendly streets with gradual climbs so you can practice shifting gears. Everyone will ride the hills at their own pace and we always regroup at the top and before any turns so you need not be concerned about being left behind.
We'll start from the Old Renton City Hall taking the Cedar River Trail before climbing Lake Francis Road and Landsburg Road to our first rest stop at Ravensdale Park at mile 19. Then we'll continue to the Greenriver Gorge for a viewing and photo op, before climbing to the Black Diamond Bakery for our coffee and pastry stop at mile 34. We'll return via Lake Sawyer Road and Greenriver Road. This ride will take about 5.5 hours with the 2 rest stops. Restroom available at start line.
You should dress appropriately for the weather and all you need is a working bike and a helmet. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the published start time to ready your bike, check in and participate in the safety and ride briefing. We will go over hand signals and what we say during the ride to keep ourselves safe.
Pace: Steady, 12-14 mph on flat roads with frequent regroups.
Rest stops: Ravensdale Park Mile 19, Black Diamond Bakery-food stop Mile 34.
