Free Group Ride
MUMPS: Do The Lake, Clockwise (Moderate)
Event has already happened.
We’ll ride the Lake Washington loop route clockwise from Log Boom. There is a four hour parking restriction in the park. If you are concerned about exceeding the time limit you may park on NE 175th St. before the entrance to the park.
This is a moderate paced ride so be prepared for up to 16 mph on the flats. Riders are welcome to climb and descend the hills at their own pace as we will regroup safely at the top or bottom. When on multi-use trails we will slow to observe the trail speed limit.
We’ll warmup with a climb up Juanita at the 1.1 mile mark and continue to Kirkland via Market stopping at Marina Park for a restroom break. From Kirkland we continue south toward Renton and the southern tip of Lk. WA where we'll begin our trek northward. We'll make a quick snack stop at the coffee shop inside Third Place Books in Seward Park before our final stretch which takes us through the Washington Park Arboretum, behind UW Stadium, through neighborhood streets, and up the Burke Gilman trail back to Log Boom.
Contact the ride leader if you plan to join the group at a point other than the starting location (in case we change the route). Depending on weather and mood of the group, the route may be shortened to cross the lake via the I-90 trail or the WA 520 trail.
Riders should bring snacks and ample hydration.
Restrooms available at the start and we have planned stops at approximately mile 8, 21, and 30.
Please come with the equipment & know-how to take care of your own flats and minor mechanicals as well as a plan for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there (an ORCA card or someone to call). It happens!
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the ride to prepare yourself and your bike before our safety talk. Ride rolls out at 10:00.
Registration: Pre-registration is greatly appreciated & encouraged! Just click on the red Register Now button above. This saves time at the start and helps ride leaders plan accordingly. There is no need to un-register should you find yourself no longer able to ride.
Fenders: If rain is expected or the roads are wet, please be considerate of other riders' comfort and safety by using full fenders that extend at/below the wheel hub. You may still ride with us without them, but you will be asked to ride in the back of the group.
Cancellation: Forecast for rain, snow, ice/frost or other unsafe riding conditions will be cause for cancellation. A cancellation notice will be posted in the comment section below at least 2 hours before the start and ride leader will not be at the start.
