Free Group Ride
Sunday Morning Coffee (Lake Sammamish Loop)
Event has already happened.
Please join us for a 23 mile Brisk (16-18 mph in flats) social ramble around some of the best riding roads around Issaquah, Sammamish, Redmond and Bellevue. This is a traditional "Lake Sammamish Loop" route out of East Lake Sammamish Trailhead. Please join me for my warm-up before the Woodinville Wine Ride!
Please note that since this starts at a trail, there are no restrooms at the start, but there is a portable toilet. Please be privy to the start time - 07:00, so please be ready to roll out with your bike by no later than 06:45, in time to hear the safety briefing, including the S.M.A.R.T. talk.
There is an additional portable toilet (no running water) available at Mile 9.8 (Sunset Elementary), right after the climb up to Sunset Elementary, where we will regroup. If you intend to climb anything at your own pace, please inform the Ride Leader before proceeding to do so. Otherwise, anyone who is in front of the Ride Leader is counted off of the ride.
Our optional social gathering point will be at Whole Foods at the Finish, where I intend to enjoy a few refreshments before the Woodinville Wine Ride. Whole Foods does not open until 08:00, so unfortunately you cannot get anything from there beforehand. However, there is a Shell station and a 24-hour Subway sandwich shop nearby if you desire - but you will be on your own.
You are encouraged to pre-register by clicking the red "Register Now" button above, with no need to un-register if you change your mind about attending. This will save time at the Start.
Weather cancellation criteria includes ice, snow and sub-freezing temperatures that include high humidity/damp roads. In the event that the weather cancellation criteria are met (or emergency needs to cancel occur), a cancellation comment will be made here at least two hours before the ride start (by 05:00) - and the Ride Leader will not be at the Start. The Ride Leader may not be able to answer calls reliably on the morning of the ride, so please plan to follow protocol, accordingly.
Please note that while this is a "Brisk" paced route (16-18 mph in the flats), our overall average speed may end up being less as we intend to keep together on the rolling terrain. While all efforts will be made to keep the group together, climbing is allowed and encouraged at your own pace, and we will regroup at the summits or designated reconvention points, wherever it is safe to do so. We will also stop for minor mechanical issues, provided that the Ride Leader is notified of it. Please bring adequate supplies to repair/service your bike (tube/tools/etc.), and have full fenders if the roads or wet, or you will be asked to ride at the back of the group. While every effort will be made to ensure that no rider is left behind, please ensure that you have a way to complete the route or return to your starting point should there be a need.
Finally, please do not forget to bring a helmet, as helmets are required to ride!
