Free Group Ride
Kenmore to Edmonds Lunch Run (LATE START!)
Event has already happened.
Edmonds, Bellevue, and Seattle brunch runs return! It's time to make our weekly visit to some favorite cafes for breakfast or lunch. This week we'll wander over to Edmonds to enjoy Red Twig Cafe. Riding out of Bothell Ski & Bike in Kenmore we'll venture through Lynnwood to Edmonds where will have lunch at about the 16 mile mark.
This is a hilly ride! Please review the Ride With GPS elevation profile. The ride to Edmonds has so a good share of hills sprinkled along the route, but they are pretty moderate with breaks here and there. After lunch we'll warm back up with a climb out of the Edmonds Bowl via Woodway and then up Innis Arden. While Woodway is about one mile and fairly moderate, Innis Arden has significant grades at times, also about a mile in length. It is not an easy climb, but we'll ride it at rider's personal pace. We'll have a reprieve on the Interurban Trail before we climb up through Mountlake Terrace and enjoy a fun downhill back into Kenmore.
We'll maintain a steady pace (12-14 mph) on the flats w/o the benefit or hindrance of wind, slower on the uphills, faster on the downhills. This is a stay together ride, regrouping as necessary at the top and bottom of hills. However, if you are significantly off the group pace, please be prepared to finish the ride solo.
Riders should bring tools and knowledge to repair flats and minor mechanicals (e.g., patch kit, spare tube, pump, multi-tool). Please have a backup plan for any major mechanicals (someone to call for a rescue or an ORCA card). It happens!
It is recommended that riders carry sufficient hydration and snacks in case we experience any delays.
Fenders: For the comfort and safety of your fellow riders as well as yourself, full fenders with long buddy flaps are greatly appreciated if it is wet or there is a chance of rain. No fenders means you are happy to ride in the back. Weather can change quickly this time of year, please be prepared for all conditions by having proper gear and equipment.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to prepare yourself and your bike prior to the safety briefing. Ride starts promptly at 11:00.
Restrooms and water available at the start.
Parking: Please park in the spaces on the west side of the lot so that we do not impede Bothell Bike's customers.
Registration: To save time at the start and so that the leader can properly prepare for the ride, please register for the ride by clicking on red Register Now button. There is no need to unregister should you find you are no longer able to ride.
Cancellation: Ride will be canceled for steady rain, dangerous road surface such as frost or ice, below freezing temperatures, high winds, or poor air quality. Should conditions call for a cancellation day of ride, a cancellation notice will be posted in the comment section at least two hours prior. If conditions are questionable please check the comments below before leaving for the start. Leader will not be at start if conditions call for cancellation.
