Event has already happened.
Looking to maintain your riding through the Seattle winter weather, this ride will challenge you. Come enjoy the back streets of Sand Point Way. Lights are required for this ride, both front and rear. Fenders will be needed if the route is wet.
Ride start: We will meet on the NE corner of NE Pacific St & Montlake Blvd NE. This is the light rail station at Husky Stadium. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the ride. Check in with the ride leader to sign or be checked off on the liability waiver. We will have the safety briefing before leaving on the ride. Water and restrooms are not available at the start location.
Route: This route may change as conditions change. Watch the ride comments for updates. We will ride across the 520 Bridge and loop Lk Washington to the north. You need to be comfortable riding up Bothell Way and down Sand Point Way in the dark. The terrain is city hilly with traffic on sections. We will observe speed limits along the Burke Gilman Trail.
Parking: There is little to no parking near the UW stadium. Consider parking near 36th Ave NE and NE Blakeley St. This is the location of Saint Helens Cafe. From here you can get on the Burke Gilman Trail and ride west the two miles to the ride start.
Mechanical: Be prepared if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire. Bring a spare tube, tools, patch kit, pump and skills to fix flats, and have a mobile phone and a plan for rescue in case your bike fails.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets will be provided. A Ride With GPS map file and cue sheet are available at the link, below. If you want a cue sheet, please print it and bring it along.
Register - Please RSVP by clicking on the red "Register Now" button under the ride title above. This will save us time at the start. Note that the on-line RSVP requires a Cascade Bicycle Club account, which is easy to set up, but if you don't want one of those just come anyway and sign the hard-copy attendance and hold-harmless (waiver) sheet.
Weather cancellation: The listed phone number will not be answered on the day of the ride. If "Showers cancel" conditions exist on ride day, I will not go to the start. In that case, I'll post a ride-canceled message in the Comments block below, not later than two hours prior to start time. Ice or frost/snow that makes driving to the start unwise also will cancel. If the weather looks iffy, check here before leaving for the ride.

- Advance registration required. Cancel if unable to attend, to open space for others.
