Northeast Seattle History Ride

This will be a history ride to visit and learn some facts about various historic and interesting places around Northeast Seattle. We will meet at Woodland Park near the restrooms near Lower Woodland - Soccer Field #2 (5201 Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA 98103). Parking can be found in the adjacent parking lot. Bus routes that run close to Woodland Park include the 5, 44, and 62 lines.

We will first head north to Green Lake, then northeast through Wedgwood to Matthews Beach Park for a water/restroom stop. After that, we will ride to Magnuson Park for a few shorter stops before hopping on the Burke-Gilman Trail to get to the University of Washington. After a few short stops in the University, we will head north on 17th before taking Ravenna Blvd back to Green Lake and the end of the ride in Woodland Park. There are a total of 15 stops on this ride during which the ride leader will give a few details about the history/geography/etc.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to ride start (i.e. arrive at 8:30). Please sign the electronic waiver by creating a free account on the Cascade website. Please bring basic tools (extra tubes, patch kit, etc.) as well as water and snacks, as it may be warm that day. Have a back-up plan in case you are unable to finish (friend/family who can pick you up, ORCA card to use public transit).

Cancellations: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location. Cue sheets will not be provided, please print one if desired. Restrooms: there are restrooms at the start, Matthews Beach Park (mile 6.0), and Magnuson Park (mile 8.8).

E-bikes: This is an e-bike-friendly ride for those with Class 1 or Class 2 e-bikes (Class 3 e-bikes are not allowed because we will be riding on some trails). See the Cascade Ebike FAQ’s link for more information. Be sure to have your battery/power pack fully charged before you arrive for the ride.
