LUMPs: Matthews Beach to Seattle Tunnel Dry Run

We will ride south on the Burke-Gilman Trail via Gas Works Park, over the Fremont Bridge to the Tunnel Ride start at 6th Ave North and Harrison Street. Then take a break at the Gates Foundation parking lot for about 15 minutes, snack if needed and return to Matthews Beach. The terrain is flat. The pace is steady at 12 to 14 mph. Helmets and a functioning bicycle are required. Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Arrive early to beat the sea gulls for a good parking spot.

Route:  Come and enjoy this social bike ride south along the Burke Gilman Trail to look at the  route to the Tunnel Ride. The lake views are pretty and especially nice on a clear day.

Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry.

Ride start: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the liability waiver and hear the safety briefing. Water and restrooms are available.  No cue sheets will be provided and be prepared if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire.

Cue sheets - A RideWithGPS route map and cue sheet are at the Link, below.  If you need a cue sheet, please print one as the ride leader will not provide one.  Electric-assist bikes welcome. 

Bathrooms: They are available at the start location, at Gas Works Park and the Gates Foundation.

Register - Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information. If you cannot make the ride, you do not need to unregister.

Weather cancellation: - Showers or more severe weather will cancel the ride.  Ride cancellation will be announced in the comments section at least two hours before start time and the ride leader(s) will not be at the start.  The listed phone will not be answered on the morning of the ride and its voicemail will not be checked.  Please check here before leaving for the ride.
