MUMPS: Do The Lake CCW New Year's Eve Edition
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for our weekly loop around Lake Washington. This week it's CCW (counterclockwise) New Year's Eve edition, with a tour through Beaux Arts Village, Enetai & Bellevue. There is a four hour parking restriction at Log Boom Park, so if you are concerned it might be enforced, park nearby on NE 175th.
You can ride all or part of the route. Start at Log Boom Park or meet us at Seward Park. However, please be aware that the route may be shortened to cross the lake on the 520 trail or I-90 trail, depending on weather and mood of the group, in which case we won't make it to Seward. NOTE: There is no food stop on this ride, so be sure to BRING SNACKS.
The pace is 16-18 MPH, no wind; slower uphill, faster down and we will observe the speed limit on the multi-use trails. The goal is to stay together, but please bring navigation aids in case you need to finish on your own. The ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group.
We'll pause at three excellent rest stops: Seward Park (19 miles), Coulon Park (27 miles) & Marina Park (appx 44 miles). In addition, we'll make a quickie stop early on at Matthews Beach. NOTE: make sure to bring snacks, as there is no official food stop on the ride.
Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats; we'll pause briefly for flat repair and minor mechanicals, but have a phone and a plan to get home/back to the start if needed.
If there's a chance of precipitation, fenders with long mud flaps are recommended. Anywhere the road is wet, if you don't have stable flaps extending to within a few inches of the ground, you'll need to take the initiative to stay behind everyone with better fenders.
Please register at least 2 hours in advance on this website as this saves time at the start and enables me to email you in case of changes. You can also register manually at the start.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early for briefing and ride prep so that we can leave on time.
Forecast for rain, snow, ice/frost or other unsafe riding conditions will be cause for cancellation, in which case the ride leaders will not be at the start and the cancellation will be posted (in Comments, below) at least 2 hours before the start.
