New Year - West Meets East - Maybe Twice

While traditionally a kickoff day for football, this year we will be riding our Kick-Off the New Year Right Ride to help kick-off your 2019 New Year resolution to ride more! (You did make that resolution last night, didn't you?)

We'll start at Gas Works Park and head east along the Burke Gilman Trail towards the University of Washington.  We'll cross the 520 bridge, have our first sighting of the east side group, work our way through Bellevue and over to Mercer Island where we might have a second sighting of the east side group.  We'll have a short break at Starbucks on Mercer Island and then head across the I-90 bridge, along Lake Washington Blvd, back to the U of WA, and back to our start at Gas Works.

Please register for this ride by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page. You'll need a Cascade account, but that is free and easy to create.  Online registration closes two hours prior to ride time, and if you decide to ride after that we will have a waiver sheet for you to sign manually. Registration is not mandatory but it allows us to print the rider list beforehand and helps us save time at the ride start.

If you are a new rider, we are very happy to have you with us. Also, riders should be able to sustain the pace, carry nutrition/water, and have the know-how and equipment to fix a flat tire. Helmets are required on all Cascade rides. Everyone should carry a phone to call for assistance if needed. We will regroup after climbs and at major intersections. Arrive at least 20 minutes early so that you can get yourself ready, sign the waiver, and listen to the S.M.A.R.T. briefing. This allows us to have an on-time departure.

Be considerate and have full fenders including mud flaps if roads are wet or a prediction of rain is in the forecast.
