Free Group Ride
MUMPS: Do The Lake, Clockwise (Moderate)
Event has already happened.
We’ll ride the Lake Washington loop route clockwise from Log Boom. There is a four hour parking restriction in the Park. If you are concerned about exceeding the time limit, you may park on NE 175th St. before the entrance to the park.
This is a moderate paced ride so we will maintain 14-16 mph on the flats without the benefit or hindrance of wind (slower on ascents, faster on descents). Riders are welcome to climb and descend at their own pace as we will regroup at the top and bottom of hills. When on multi-use trails we will slow to observe the trail speed limit.
We’ll start toward Jaunita with the first climb at the 1.1 mile mark and continue to Kirkland with a stop at Marina Park. From Kirkland we continue south to Bellevue then toward Renton with a stop at Coulon Park before circling the southern tip of Lk. WA and Boeing in Renton where we turn and head north to Seward Park and along Lk WA to our final stop at the Leschi Starbucks for about 20 min, our final section will take us by the Arboretum and through UW via the Burke Gilman trail back to Log Boom.
Please contact the ride leader if you plan to join the group at a point other than the starting location (in case we change the route). Depending on weather and mood of the group, the route may be shortened to cross the lake on I-90 trail or the WA 520 trail.
Bring snacks and ample hydration. There are 3 planned restroom stops with last being the Leschi Starbucks.
Public restrooms available at start.
Please be considerate of other riders' comfort and safety by using full fenders with long mud flaps that extend below the rear hub, if rain is expected or the roads are wet. You may still ride with us without them, but if you are spraying other riders you will need to drop to the back of the group.
Please come with the equipment and know-how to take care of your own flats and mechanicals or with a plan (someone to call or an ORCA card) for getting back to the start if your bike won't take you there. If you have a problem the group will stop briefly to make sure you will be OK on your own.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start to prepare yourself and your bike prior to our safety talk so that we can roll out promptly at 10:00.
REGISTRATION: Click on the red REGISTER NOW button above to pre-register for the ride. While not required, pre-registration helps the ride leader plan accordingly if they know the number of riders to expect, it saves time at the start, and allows riders to receive important ride updates from the ride leader. CANCELLATION: Forecast for rain, snow, ice/frost or other unsafe riding conditions will be cause for cancellation, in which case the ride leader will not be at the start and a cancellation notice will be posted at least 2 hours prior to start time in the comment area below.
