WSea--Discovery

Come join me for a social urban loop from West Seattle over to Lake Washington, up to Ballard, and then down through Discovery Park. We'll pass through 19 parks on the route, including visiting the Ballard Locks and the Fremont Troll, with plenty of time for photos and an optional coffee stop at mile 29 in Magnolia. Restrooms at the start and options at 9, 16, 24 and 29 miles into the ride. We'll have regroups at hill tops and all turns. Be ready to roll and signed in by 10:15 am to hear the mandatory safety briefing.

PACE: Pace is ~17 mph on the flats (15 mph on trails) and at your own pace up hills. The pace is meant to be social with plenty of time to take photos and take in the scenery at the parks.

START LOCATION & PARKING: Bathrooms at start. Jack Block Park entrance is off of Harbor Avenue before you reach Salty's Restaurant. Look for big iron archway on water side of street.  Please park along Harbor Street to leave parking lot for park patrons then bike into the park.

MECHANIICALS: Group will not stop for mechanicals. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan for rescue should you have a serious mechanical failure.

REQUIRED: As is required with all Cascade rides, please ensure you wear a helmet and come prepared with water bottles and gear that is comfortable and appropriate for the distance/elevation. 

RIDE CANCELLATION: In the event of a weather cancellation (including poor air quality due to smoke), a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride start and ride leaders will not be at the ride start location.
