Georgetown-Duwamish History Ride

This will be a history ride to visit and learn some facts about various historic and interesting places around the Georgetown-Duwamish area on mostly flat land. We will meet outside the Kauai Family Restaurant building (6324 6th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108). Parking can be found along surrounding streets including S River St. Please do not park next to the restaurant. Local buses that can be used to access the area include routes 131, 132, and 154.

We will first head north to see the former Bay View Brewery (Rainier Brewery) before heading south to see various sites in the heart of downtown Georgetown. Next, we will access a few public river viewpoints before crossing the South Park Bridge. We will take a water/restroom break at Cecil Moses Memorial Park (mile 11.2). Then, we will ride on the Green River Trail to Duwamish Hill Preserve to learn more about the Duwamish River and the native peoples who originally inhabited the area. After that, we will ride through the Boeing area to learn about this area’s history of flight before returning back to the start. You are welcome to join the ride leader for some lunch after the ride.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to ride start. Please sign the electronic waiver by creating a free account on the Cascade website. Please bring basic tools (extra tubes, patch kit, etc.) as well as water and snacks, as it may be warm that day. Have a back-up plan in case you are unable to finish (friend/family who can pick you up, ORCA card to use public transit).

Cancellations: In the event of a weather cancellation, a notice will be posted in the comments on this page at least two hours before the ride and the ride leader will not be at the ride start location. Cue sheets will not be provided, please print one if desired. Restrooms: there are restrooms at gas stations along S Michigan St near the start, and we will stop for a water/restroom break at Cecil Moses Memorial Park (mile 11.2).
