Come on a bike adventure and explore the history of West Seattle!
Hosted by Southwest Seattle Historical Society and West Seattle Bike Connections.
To celebrate Labor Day weekend, we will stop for short presentations at places important for West Seattle labor and industries, focusing on north Delridge.
Please arrive by 9:15 to get oriented and ready to go at 9:30.
This will be a social ride at leisurely pace. We will probably walk up a couple of steep blocks. Most of the ride on flat and fairly easy grades, using trails, greenway routes, and quiet streets.
Helmets required. No ear buds. Children accompanied by adults are welcome. Please see Cascade "Information for Parents" on Free Daily Rides. Call ride leader in advance if planning to have children under 16 riding their own bikes.
Any type of bike in working order is OK. No special bike clothing or gear is needed. Check your tires and brakes the day before the ride.
Pre-registration is encouraged, but registration at the start is OK. Please arrive by 9:15 to register and get oriented.
Restrooms and water available at start and half way along route. Delridge Community Center park and playground is a nice spot for a picnic after the ride.
If it is raining or rain is forecast, check this site at 8:00 for go/no-go message. Showers or light rain will not stop us. After all, we are going to see places where Seattleites work outside in the rain all day!

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
