Let's Do Lunch! - Kenmore to Edmonds
Event has already happened.
This eclectic route to Edmonds offers up a little bit of everything. We'll ride out of Bothell Ski & Bike traveling from Kenmore through Lynnwood to Edmonds where we'll grab a bite at the Red Twig Cafe (about the 16 mile mark). Our stop will be about 20 - 30 minutes depending on the size of our group and the cafe crowd.
Whether you enjoy climbing or want to work on your climbing, this ride is for you. This is a stay together ride so climbing will be at your own pace with a regroup at the top. The ride to Edmonds has a good share of hills sprinkled along the route, but they are fairly moderate with breaks here and there and then we get to have fun with the mostly downhill run into Edmonds. You'll want the large coffee at Red Twig for the return. We climb out of Edmonds via Woodway and Innis Arden. Woodway is about one mile of fairly moderate grade, while Innis Arden has some significant grades at times, also about a mile in length. Nothing impossible, just a bit arduous at times. The lovely neighborhoods and views will surely take your mind off the hills (okay, maybe not, but they are beautiful). From there we'll have a reprieve on the Interurban Trail and a nice downhill back into Kenmore.
We'll maintain a moderate pace (12-14 mph) on the flats w/o the benefit or hinderance of wind, slower on the uphills, faster on the downhills. This is a stay together ride, regrouping as necessary at the top of hills.
Riders should bring tools and knowledge to repair flats and minor mechanicals. Please have a backup plan (someone to call or an ORCA card) for any major mechanical that may occur. It happens!
While lunch is planned, riders should carry ample hydration and a snack.
Fenders are appreciated this time of year unless it is bone dry on the roads. This is for the safety and comfort of your fellow riders as well as yourself. No fenders means you are happy to ride in the back.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early in order to prepare yourself and your bike prior to the safety briefing. Ride rolls out promptly at 10:00.
Restrooms available at the start.
Parking: Please park in the spaces on the west side of the lot so that we do not impede Bothell Bike's customers. If necessary, overflow parking is available across 522 along the side road (NE 175th St.), accessible from 68th Ave NE just west of Bothell Bike. A crosswalk for 522 is at the corner for safe access to Bothell Bike.
