Free Group Ride
Easy Peasy Nooner Snohomish County
Event has already happened.
Where to find us: It can be a little tricky to find Pilchuck Park. Head east on 2nd St in Snohomish, pass the Pine Ave traffic light and immediately take the first street on your right Cypress Ave. Then you almost immediately turn left DOWN into the park (you can't see the park from street level).
"Let's Ride" and have fun! We'll head north and within a mile we'll be riding in rural Snohomish along the Pilchuck River. We hop onto the Centennial Trail which is a conversion of the historic Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railway bed, and ride to Lake Cassidy. This pretty lake has to be enjoyed for a moment before we continue. Heading south we step off of the trail for a little bit to ride through Lake Stevens and pass the very old Machias Cemetery (1893). We'll have a look at the more than a century old Machias Community Church and then stop briefly at restrooms at the Machias Trailhead Park. Once more we will pedal along the Pilchuck River before we return to Pilchuck Park.
Some important things to know: "Steady Pace means 12-14 mph on a flat surface without any headwind. We will go slower on inclines and faster going downhill. Carying a charged cell phone is always a good idea.
Please arrive 20 minutes before the published start time to ready your bike, check in and participate in the safety and ride briefing. We will go over hand signals and what we say during the ride to keep ourselves safe. Optional, but appreciated: Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button. You have to create an account, but you don't have to become a member or pay.
Ride Requirements: Please print off and bring cue sheet. Please be knowledgeable and equipped with tubes, pump, etc to handle flats or minor mechanicals. The group may not always be able to stop for mechanicals. It is important to bring adequate food and water as there may be limited opportunities to purchase along the way.
If roads are wet, fenders are necessary. Long fenders and buddy flaps are absolutely required unless it is bone dry out, and zero percent chance of rain forecast. A good headlight and taillight are recommended. Helmets are required to ride.
Steady rain cancels the ride. If that happens, it will be announced in the comments section below at least two hours before start time and the Ride Leader will not be at the start. Below you will find some helpful links. And if you have any questions, just post them below.
