Free Group Ride
FRUMPs: Matthews Beach to Marymoor Park and Back
Event has already happened.
We will ride north on the Burke-Gilman Trail via in Bothell, east on to Woodinville and south to Marymoor Park. Turn around there and then head over to Redmond Town Center (RTC). At RTC have lunch at Starbucks or QFC. Eat there for about 30 minutes, use the restrooms if needed and return to Matthews Beach. The pace is steady at 12 to 14 mph. Helmets and a functioning bicycle are required.
Ride start: Please arrive 20 minutes before the start of the ride to sign the liability waiver if you haven't RSVP'd and hear the safety briefing. Water and restrooms are available.
Route: Come, have fun and enjoy this social bike ride along the Burke Gilman Trail. Restrooms available at Logboom Park in Lake Forest Park and at Wilmot Park in Woodinville and RTC if needed. The terrain is flat.
Lights: This is a daytime ride; a headlight or a tail light are not required, but the days are short, so if you anticipate a need, come properly equipped.
Fenders: If the roads are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Arrive early to beat the sea gulls for a good parking spot.
Mechanical: Be prepared if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire. Bring a spare tube, tools, patch kit, pump and skills to fix flats, and have a mobile phone and a plan for rescue in case your bike fails.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets will be provided. A Ride With GPS map file and cue sheet are available at the Links, below. If you want a cue sheet, please print it and bring it along.
Register - Please RSVP by clicking on the red "Register Now" button under the ride title above. This will save us time at the start. Note that the on-line RSVP requires a Cascade Bicycle Club account, which is easy to set up, but if you don't want one of those just come anyway and sign the hard-copy attendance and hold-harmless (waiver) sheet.
Weather cancellation: The listed phone number will not be answered on the day of the ride. If "Showers cancel" conditions exist on ride day, I will not go to the start. In that case I'll post a ride-cancelled message in the Comments block below, not later than two hours prior to start time. Ice or frost/snow that makes driving to the start unwise also will cancel. If the weather looks iffy, check here before leaving for the ride.
