Tacoma’s Dome District from Gig Harbor

It's December in the Pacific Northwest, so why not ride to the umbrella wall mural in Tacoma?

We're going to start at the Gig Harbor Park and Ride on Kimball, cross the bridge, go through North and Downtown Tacoma and meet the group coming from Sumner (led by Patty & Rick) for coffee and donuts at Dockside Donuts (very Tacoma) and a photo opportunity in front of the mural. For the return trip, we'll head uphill and follow the Scott Pierson Trail back to the bridge. (Route linked below- can be downloaded and you can print a cue sheet from it if you want one.) 

Meeting time is 9 am for introductions, safety briefing, waiver sign off and all that good pre-departure stuff. 

If roads are wet or rain is predicted, please have fenders on your bike or ride in the back.

Moderate pace means 14-16 miles per hour on hypothetical flat roads with no wind. This route has some hills  - the bridge, 25th street - we will take them at our own paces and regroup after.  

Cancellation Policy: If needed, a weather cancellation will be posted two hours prior in the Comments section below, and the ride leader will not be at the start. This time of year, you better check here before leaving for the ride.

Bring what you will need in case of a flat tire or other minor mechanical issues. Other suggested items to bring: a charged cell phone, ID, some cash and a credit card, water, snacks. 

There is a washroom at the start, Dockside Donuts around mile 13.5, and Umbrella Mural less than a mile from donuts. We will go through War Memorial Park/Narrows park and ride on the Tacoma side of the bridge at about mile 5 and I expect be be there around 10.
