FRIDAY RIDERS: East Lake Sammamish Trail
Event has already happened.
The East Lake Sammamish Trail is an 11-mile recreational rail trail that runs along Lake Sammamish from Marymoor Park in Redmond, through Sammamish, to Gilman Boulevard in Issaquah. The trail is a work in progress and is mostly paved for multi-use. However, there is a 4 mile unpaved section in each direction where we will detour to the roadway above which has bike lanes. Start at the north trailhead at NE 70th St. near SR 202 in Redmond (near Whole Foods). You will find free parking at the start. There is a sanican in the parking lot or use the restroom at Peets Coffee across the way. This is an out and back - mostly flat paved trail ride. Bike south to Issaquah passing by beautiful estates and views of Lake Sammamish. Enjoy a break at Tully’s Coffee at the half-way point. Return by retracing your tire tracks back to Redmond on the trail and East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE.
DIRECTIONS: from Redmond Way turn onto NE 70th Street. Turn left (after Whole Foods parking lot) to trail access parking. No restrooms available at start but there is a Peet’s Coffee across the way. Alternately, free parking is also available at the East parking lot in Marymoor Park.
Riders are responsible for their own equipment repairs. Please bring your own tools and spare tube to fix a flat. Bicycle helmets are required!
Meet at 9:45 AM to ready your bicycle and listen to a safety briefing. The ride leaves promptly at 10 AM.
If weather is inclement check the comments section for ride cancellation notice. A notice will be posted 2 hours prior to meet time and the ride leader will not appear at the start.
