CANCELLED:Snoqualmie to Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Loop
Event has already happened.
On the climb to Rattlesnake Lake, the road has a small segment with a14 degree grade. We stop at Rattlesnake Lake for a restroom break and then ride on more level pavement thru North Bend up the MIddle Fork road. The pavement changes to smooth asphalt and is nearly level. The Middle Fork Road is adjacent to the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River, and pavement ends after the Middle Fork Trailhead parking lot. At the trailhead we will take a break, a toilet is available, and there is displayed a large map of the trails leading from the area. Nearby is a scenic foot bridge across the river.
There are two locations on the Middle Fork road through which we will dismount and walk our bikes. The first location is several miles from the start of the road, and consists of a dirt and gravel section of road. That section is about 100 feet in length and is clearly visible in advance. The next dismount location is near our turnaround at the trailhead. This section hast two steel plates spanning the road at a low-water crossing. These are clearly visible in advance. No one had difficultly traveling through these sections during the last ride on this route, Sunday September 10. No delays are expected and vehicle traffic should be very light.
Climb the hills at your own pace and we will regroup at the top. On the flats we ride together at a brisk pace.
Route map and cue sheet are at the Link, below. Note this is a new and corrected version. If you want a cue sheet, please print and bring it along. Bring tools and knowledge to repair flats, and a plan for rescue should you have a serious mechanical failure. Cell service unlikely during parts of the route.
Bring snacks and drink for yourself. Restrooms and water at the start at Centennial Park, and at the end of the Middle Fork Road.
Please RSVP by clicking on the red Register Now button at the top of this page and that will expedite the sign in process preceeding the ride. Arrive early so that we can go over the Cascade Bicycle Club's safety announcement, and introductions. Have yourself and bike prepared to ride at 930am.
