Woodinville to Ballard Locks Concert ride
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Join us for a ride that’s a bit different: we are going to start at Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville and ride for about 2 hours on the mostly flat Burke Gilman Trail to the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (aka Ballard Locks). There we will spend a couple hours on the grass listening to a free concert by the Kirkland Civic Orchestra who will play mix of popular, movie and patriotic selections (see the link to the program below). Then we’ll return on the same route.
Details:
We meet at the restrooms at Wilmot Gateway Park. Please plan to be there about 11:10am to hear the route briefing and safety notes. We’ll leave the park at 11:30am to get to the Locks around 1:30pm. There will be chairs provided, and we’ll also have blankets available to lie on the grass. You may want to bring a picnic along with you, though my wife (who plays in the orchestra) will have some snacks available. The concert starts at 2pm. After taking in the concert we’ll ride back the same way, leaving around 3:30pm to get back to Wilmot Gateway Park around 5:30pm. So the entire ride and concert should take about 6 hours. Be aware that you’ll cool down once we get to the concert.
If you’d like to start in Redmond and add 6 mi/30 mins (12 mi/60 mins for the entire ride), I will be on the Sammamish River Trail at the NE 85th Street overpass at 10:30am, ready to ride to Woodinville.
Riders should be able to sustain a Steady pace. Please download the route to your device or print your own cue sheet. Please come with the skills and equipment to change a flat; the group does not stop for mechanicals.
Please RSVP. It’s not required, but much appreciated. Also be sure to sign the online waiver by clicking on the red Register Now button for this ride above.
The weather is predicted to be nice, but any important info will be posted in the Comments section in both the Cascade and Meetup postings at least two hours before the ride start.
