MORE Hills (Moderate & Steady Paces)
Event has already happened.
Why ride indoors? Skip spin class and join us for a Midweek Outdoor Riding in Evening (MORE) Hills! MORE Hills typically occur Wednesday evenings from March to August. Rides will be about 20 miles with a handful of steep or "pitchy" hills thrown in. For the month of March, we will keep the distance shorter and elevation gain minimal until daylight gets longer and our fitness level catches up :-). It is a perfect way to add a little training for otherwise weekend riders without spending too much time.
This week's route will take us on a long, flat stretch (for Seattle) of Seaview Ave NW to climb up Golden Garden hill. We then take on rolling hills of Blue Ridge neighborhood and return to the start via Greenwood. ALL willing hill climbers with good attitude are welcome.
This week's ride leaders:
Moderate pace (14-16mph on flats): Machiko Threlkeld and Alex Belskis
Steady pace (12-14mph on flats): Jennifer Lehman and Joseph Roberts
We will regroup at top of every hill for a reasonable time, but if you are too fast/slow for the majority, it will become self-paced. Stops will be brief. If you are struggling to sustain the advertised pace after climbing hills, the ride leaders will make sure you know a way back to the start. We want everyone to ride hard but to have fun and get back safely.
Please bring your own cue sheet. Please pack water, snack, and tools/tubes to fix a flat as always. Even though the majority of ride will be in daylight, please have your lights (both front and back) just in case of unforeseen holdups. There is no scheduled stop en route, but we can stop to refill bottles as necessary. 6:00pm is roll out time, so please be at the start, ready to ride no later than 5:45pm.
Weather notice: In case of inclement weather, the ride leader will post a cancellation notice in the comments section below by 4pm day of the ride, and Ride Leaders will not be at the ride start.
