Event has already happened.
This is a very scenic ride throughout. We will start at Bay View State Park and head for the east side of Chuckanut Mountain riding along Lake Samish for a good part of the first half of the ride. There is one long but not very steep climb once we leave the Lake leading to Fairhaven where we will stop for a sit down lunch. We will pick up Chuckanut Drive after lunch for a general descent back to Bay View. About a third of the total miles will be in flat, open farmland.
The starting point is 68 miles north from Magnuson Park and 1 hour 19 minutes driving time by Google estimate. Car pooling is encouraged. Let me know if you need a ride or have room for a rider and bike; I will try to play match maker, but nothing promised on this score.
There is a parking fee at the starting point - either a Discover Pass or $10 for the day; as I recall the park takes cash and credit/debit cards.
Call me on the posted number before you leave if there is the slightest question about the ride going ahead. I will not be at the starting point if the weather outlook is unfavorable and I cancel the ride. I will post a go/no go update on this site at about 7:30.
