RIDE CANCELLED - Up and Down Hurricane Ridge

Ride up the beautiful and extremely challenging Hurricane Ridge Road!
This is an extremely hilly route with a very challenging ascent and an equally challenging descent. The route is meant for only the strongest of climbers. If you're feeling up to the challenge, come join us as we tackle one of the best climbs in the country.
The pace is set at "Moderate," but there's no way to keep that pace up this mountain. My goal is to have a below-2-hour ascent and a safe, moderate descent. This means the pace going up will be quick and extremely challenging. It is fully self-supported so be prepared with lots of water and lots of food as well as tools and equipment to fix flats and other malfunctions. Carbon wheels are not suggested on this route given the amount of braking required on the descent.
Regroups will be very infrequent. There are very few places to get lost along the way, so consider this a self-paced ride to the top. Once at the top, we will wait a reasonable amount of time before heading back down. Please note, the goal is roughly 2:00:00 to the top. The maximum wait at the top will be 30 minutes beyond the first arrival. Have a cell phone handy in case you need to alert the ride leader of an emergency or exit.
Steady rain cancels. If there is rain forecast as late as the night before the ride, the ride leader may cancel. If so, a notice will be posted by 8 AM the morning of the ride on the meetup group. PLEASE RSVP at the Meet-up page so the Ride Leader knows who to expect.
We'll park at the visitor's center and ride from there. Getting to the visitor's center is the responsibility of each rider. Please note - the ride starts at 1 PM which should give most in the area time to get lunch before departing. Come well fed.
