Free Group Ride
Renton - Mercer Island
Event has already happened.
Kick off the new year with a ride out of Renton (Old City Hall) and around Mercer Island. We will stop for coffee on the Island before kicking it around the long way and then backtracking to the start. Your trusted and true Ride Leader will be holding the pace but if you are feeling your oats and want to shoot out ahead, you are welcome to, just be sure you know where the turns are because the Ride Leader will not chase you down if you miss a turn.
Cue Sheets: Please print your own cue sheets if desired. Do not count on the Ride Leader to have extra.
In the event of wet conditions: Long fenders will be appreciated by the rider behind you. If you don’t have them you may be asked to ride in the back.
Cancellation policy: I will not be at the ride start should conditions be as noted in “Weather Cancels” or otherwise need to cancel. I will announce the cancellation in the comments section on the Cascade Free Daily Ride web site and Cascade Meetup at least two hours prior to the ride start and will monitor my phone and/or email listed in the Contact information. If you have questions about the weather, please call (or email) before you leave for the ride."
Route changes: Will be posted in the comments section of the Cascade Free Daily Rides and Cascade meetup.
Regroups: As needed and at the top of hills. Must be able to maintain posted pace on flats. Regrouping will occur but riders should be able to stay with the main group, falling too far off the back may require the rider to navigate solo the remainder to the route. Riding faster than the pace is ok but it becomes a self managed ride if you miss a turn.
Mechanicals: Will not stop the group. Please be sure you have the equipment (pump, tubes etc.) and knowledge to change flats, plus a cue sheet to get home, or a phone to call for assistance if needed.
RSVP: Not required but is greatly appreciated.
Mentoring: Available with prior notice, contact Ride Leader at least 2 days before ride.
Arrive: 20 minutes before start time in order to prepare your bike and listen to the SMART talk. Riders will appreciate your promptness.
