Tri-County Ramble

Our semi-annual tour that encompasses parts of 3 counties in the Puget Sound region.  We meet in the Lincoln Park parking lot and bike down to the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal for the 9:15 boat to Southworth (Kitsap County).  From there we head south to Gig Harbor (Pierce County), then a counter-clockwise loop to the west towards Henderson Bay; south past Kopachuk State Park and east along Carr Inlet; continuing east, passing just north of Tacoma Narrows Airport and across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.  From there we'll proceed north to Port Defiance Zoo where, time permitting, there's an optional 5-mile loop through Port Defiance Park.  We'll then board the ferry to the Tahlequah Ferry Dock, climb away from the dock and head north along the west side of Vashon Island (King County) to the ferry terminal on the north end of the island, hopefully in time for the 4:45 PM ferry back to Fauntleroy.

Depending on the number of riders (and their relative strenghts), we may break into separate groups and ride at different paces.  This is a very hilly ride, often along quiet rural roads with limited services.  There will be a few rest stops, but it is important that each rider have with them enough food, water, spare tubes, tools, etc.
