Lopez Island

Event has already happened.
Come cycle the friendly island! Two years ago, Bicycling Magazine called Lopez the best ride in Washington. What took them so long? This ride has it all - beautiful views, beaches, deer, sea lions, and maybe the occasional orca. If you've been on one of my Lopez rides, there will be some new sights this year like Iceberg Point. Sadly, we'll have to leave out some old favorites like Spencer Spit but we'll keep others including Shark Reef and the Center church.
Bring money for lunch and the ferry and a lock for your bike. Also wear or bring shoes that you can walk in as we'll be doing a couple of miles of short hikes. We'll be riding at he high end of steady but there will be opportunites if you want to ride faster. We'll also do this ride at a moderate pace in August. The mileage seems low for a full day but you'll know you've done some riding at the end of the day. We'll catch the 9:35 ferry from Anacortes. Call the ride leader to arrange carpools. We'll carpool from Mariner Park & Ride on 4th Ave W off of I5 exit 186 at 7:15 AM.
