Free Group Ride
Seattle Loop
Event has already happened.
This is a training ride focusing on distance for riders looking to increase their riding ability. Bring a water bottle or two to hydrate during the ride and some snacks to nibble on along the way so that you can maintain riding. We will meet at the east end of the parking lot in Gas Works Park. There is a restroom at the start and three other restrooms along the route, with a short break planned at Alki.
If you know the city and bike routes well enough, there are several bail out points for those that don't want to do the whole ride. First bail out point is just after mile 25, instead of proceeding to Alki, go over the Spokane bridge and resume the route back to Gas Works, skipping the Magnolia loop if desired. Second bail out point is at the waterfront. Take Wall St up the hill to Denny to Dexter. Dexter will drop you into Fremont and you're just a short distance from Gas Works Park. This can also be combined with the first bail out to cut out more of the distance if desired. Third bail out option is to cut out the Magnolia loop, proceed northbound on Thorndyke to 20th to Gilman and take a right on Emerson. Follow the remaining part of the route back to Gas Works.
Please RSVP via the Meetup link below, it is helpful for the ride leaders to know how many people plan to attend the ride. Bring the necessary tools and items to repair or replace a flat tube and know how to use them. Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign up for the ride and hear the pre-ride briefing so that we are ready to ride by 10. It's still the rainy season, at least a rear fender on your bike is recommended in consideration of riders behind you. A full set will reduce how wet you get in the rain and make the ride more pleasant for you and everyone else on the ride.
There will be an optional social gathering post ride at the Fremont Dock for a meal and recovery drink, please bring a method of payment for yourself if you wish to participate and get to know your fellow riders better.
Print your own cue sheets from the RideWithGPS link below if you are unfamiliar with any of the route. We will regroup as necessary after hills and at traffic lights. Otherwise if you cannot keep the advertised pace on flats with no headwind, you will be self guided. Public restroom locations are noted on the RideWithGPS links as well.
