Getting Ready to Ride (GR2R) #4 Eastside - Woodinville - Rose Hill
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
Are you new to cycling or are you planning on riding in your first STP or RSVP but aren’t sure if you are “ready” to start training in the Cascade Training Series (CTS) or in the Daily Rides programs? Or perhaps you’re trying to fulfill a New Year’s Resolution to do more Daily Rides?
If this describes you, consider joining one or more of our Eastside Getting Ready to Rides Series. This series will be held on 7 Saturdays starting at 11:30 am at various Eastside locations. Rides will be conducted at two paces and you can select the pace that best fits for you – A Leisurely paced group (10-12 mph on the flats, aka The “Red” group in CTS) and a Steady paced group (12-14 mph on the flats, aka The “Yellow” group in CTS). We will hold our fourth Eastside Getting Ready to Ride event on Saturday March 1, 2014 starting at Wilmot Gateway Park in Woodinville at 11:30 am. The ride will be about 22 miles with one moderate hill climb where you’ll be able to test your gearing and hill climbing style.
The route map is at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1985006. Printed cue sheets will be available at the start but we urge you to print it before arriving at the start in case we run short. (Please check back on this site a day or two before the ride for any route changes.) Please plan to arrive by 11:15am to sign the ride waiver, do equipment checks, and discuss the route. Riders should bring a spare tube and a pump in case of a flat along the way. We anticipate the ride will last 2.5-3 hours depending on how the day goes. We will also discuss group interest in related skills for riding such as tire changing, the ABC checks for riding, simple bike upkeep, etc.
Please consult the Cascade Bicycle Club Daily Rides web page for information for riders (http://www.cascade.org/welcome-newcomers. Helmets are required on all Cascade Bicycle Club rides. The 2014 scheduled ride dates are 8 Feb, 15 Feb, 22 Feb, 1 Mar, 8 Mar, 15 March and 29 Mar. (There will be no ride on 22 March.) Each ride will have a different starting point as posted on the Cascade Daily Rides calendar page (http://www.cascade.org/calendar) and under the Cascade Free Daily Rides subgroup of meetup.com (http://www.meetup.com/cascaderides/). Please note that RSVPs on Meetup.com are not required, but are very much appreciated so that we can recruit additional ride leaders as necessary.
