Free Group Ride
Hill Burn Vashon (Brisk, 47 mi, 4381', Henley/Bakke)
Event has already happened.
Burn off your turkey with a hilly Vashon ride. This clockwise route gives us all new hills and a few bonus ones thrown in! We will meet on the Vashon Ferry dock at 9:00 a.m. and catch the 9:25 ferry to the island. This ride recommended for more experienced cyclists who have been riding hills.
COST: Bring $6.10 for passenger/bike ticket.
PACE: Will adhere to 16-18 mph on flats with equivalent effort (but not speed) on hill climbs with cautious descents. We will regroup (within reason) at tops of hills, but will not wait for fixing flats or mechanical issues so come prepared with everything you need. Please print and bring a cue sheet with you in case you become separated from the group. Faster paced riders are welcome, but for them the ride will be self-guided. The route offers many bailout options.
REST STOPS: Restroom/water stops at miles 17 (no food) and 37.4 (coffee stop at Vashon Island Coffee Rosterie) and on ferry both directions.
PARKING: Park in the northernmost lot Lincoln Park or on the Northbound side of Fauntleroy (be aware if time limits are posted, do not park in southbound ferry loading line).
FERRY: 9:25 a.m. sailing. Fauntleroy to Vashon. Arrive on Ferry Dock by 9:00 a.m. Park bike on right-hand side in bike waiting area). Bikes not allowed in terminal.
RSVP: Yes! Please let us know you are coming (by email or by RSVP on meetup site).
