STP embodies the joy of bicycling as one.
Nearly 5,000 people completed Cascade Bicycle Club's 45th Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland presented by Alaska Airlines on July 13 and 14. Their journey began at dawn on the University of Washington campus in Seattle and concluded 206 miles later in Portland's Holladay Park, where they arrived exhausted and elated to the cheers of family, friends, and spectators.
A small percentage rode it in one day. Most finished in two days, because STP is not a race — it's a big group ride where everyone who participates is a winner. Please enjoy our photos from the start and finish. Perhaps they will inspire you to join the thousands of people who travel from around the region, nation, and world to challenge their endurance, make new friends, and revel in the beautiful humanity of riding together.
Pedaling over the University Bridge in the early morning glow as Seattle sleeps is an early highlight of STP.

Everyone is a Winner at the Finish!
The finish line festival in Portland is where people celebrate, gather with friends, hug family, lie on the grass, jump in the fountains, and hoist their bikes overhead.
Jumping in the fountain is a finish line treat following a hot ride.
The Asha for Education team is one of our STP Affinity Bike Club partners. Asha had a record number of youth and women riders this year, and they are among the groups that use STP as a fundraiser for their good works.
The arrival of our Major Taylor Project team was an exciting moment for Cascade. MTP teamed up with Bike Works to ride together and support one another. MTP breaks down barriers to cycling for youth of color in King and Pierce County, teaching leadership and bike skills that empower students and foster health bodies, minds, and communities.
