Get a massage

You know how it is after a long ride. Your arms are salty and your face is gritty as your legs start to tighten.

Back by popular demand, the expert masseuses from Washington Sports Massage Team will be at the Flying Wheels finish line to soothe your weary riding muscles. Massages are only $15 for minutes. Cash only. This is WSMT's twentieth year working on tired muscles. If you miss them at Flying Wheels, catch them at the STP midpoint or at Bellingham to support RSVP riders.

Ride the Little 100, 12 Laps Cascade Style

This is your chance to live the “Breaking Away” fantasy at the Marymore Velodrome. Cascade staff is challenging Club members and friends to a Cascade Challenge Race in the Little 100 following Flying Wheels! Costumes? You bet! Fun times? Of course.

For the fourth year in row we are happy to feature the Alki/Rubicon Marymoor Little 100 track race following Flying Wheels Summer Century. This wacky and fun event is based upon the duel featured in the classic seventies cycling film “Breaking Away.” This time though instead of watching “The Cutters” compete, you can join in the action in several different ways.

Witness the glove being thrown! Cascade Bicycle Club staff is challenging members and friends to a Cascade Challenge Race in the Little 100 following Flying Wheels. This is a special opportunity to participate in a zany event that is normally only open to UCI-licensed riders! When the gun goes off at 3 p.m., a rider from each 4-person team will mount their single-speed cruiser bike (provided by the race organizers) and race the other teams around the track for three laps before handing the bike off to a teammate. The first team to complete 12 laps wins! If you watched the races last year, you know how much fun it is.

Special Cascade team entry fee for this race is a mere $25 - and the prizes are great! The number of teams is limited, so call (206-957-4826) or email Peter Verbrugge to pre-register as soon as you have your team of four.

Ride the Alki|Rubicon Little 100

If you would rather race in longer events (Cat 1-3, USCF license required or pay a $10 per rider day fee), there is a complete program from Coed Cruiser class all the way to the Elite Men category. Please visit Alki Rubicon Racing to register.

Kick back and relax

Whether you ride the century, race the Little 100 or come out to cheer your friends, Flying Wheels is shaping up to be a great day for everyone. Grab a beer, a hot sandwich and kick back on the grass at the Velodrome. We’ll be spinning tunes, racing bikes and having a good time all day long.
